COMMISSION ON THE ARTS

Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chair Fred Lewis. Members present were
Malinda Cooper, Andrew Zehr, Jennifer Brockpahler and Craig Zywicki.
Public Forum
No one spoke from the public.
Approval of Minutes
It was moved by Commissioner Cooper and seconded by Commissioner Zywicki to approve the
October 7 and November 2, 2013 minutes. Motion carried unanimously. Lewis thanked Cathy
Gersema for her extensive minutes from the November 2, 2013 hearings.
New Business
A. 2014/2015 Annual Grant Recommendations
Council approved $144,401 for 2014/15 per Commissioner Lewis’ note; it is more than
anticipated. The Commission requested that staff request Dancenter by-laws. The
Commission also discussed allocating the remaining money to special projects in the
amount of $4,171 for 2014/20015. There was a motion by Cooper, seconded by Zehr to
allocate for Annual Grants in the amount of $140,230 for 2014/2015 and to allocate $4,171
for Special Project Grants for 2014/2015. The motion carried unanimously.
B. Upcoming Meetings
January 6, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. – Council Chambers, City Hall -- Cancelled
February 3, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. -- Council Chambers, City Hall

C. Paragraph Discussion
The Commission discussed assignment of paragraph writing for the budget presentation to the
City Council in February.
Chair Lewis declared the meeting adjourned at 5:24 p.m.
