Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:06 p.m. by Malinda Cooper. Members present were
Malinda Cooper, Andrew Zehr, Connie Garnett and Steve Sullivan. Absent was Jennifer
Brockpahler.
Annual Grant and Spring Special Project Grant Workshop
Melissa Mundt, Assistant City Manager, shared the updated forms and process for annual and
spring grant applications with the Commission and those organizations in attendance for the
workshop. Mundt noted that organizations should try out the forms as soon as possible to make
sure they are working properly. Staff has already made some adjustments to assist applicants.
The forms should be saved to the applicant’s computer and named for the organization and
year. This way when they submit the document it can be easily identified as belonging to
correct the organization. All applications should be emailed to mmundt@city.ames.ia.us by the
deadline noted on the application.
Public Forum
No one was present for the public forum.
Approval of August 8, 2014 Minutes
Chair Cooper requested that the reference to the grant workshop be corrected. It was moved
by Commissioner Zehr and seconded by Commissioner Sullivan to approve the August 4, 2014
minutes as amended. The motion carried unanimously.
New Business
1) Present 2015 First 6 month. Calendar
2) Reminders -- Spring 2015 Special Project Grant Applications – due September 22
2015/16 Annual Grant Applications – due October 9
Upcoming Meetings
The next meeting with be October 6, 2014 and includes the Spring Special Project Grant
Hearing.
Annual Grant Hearing will be held on November 3, 2014 at 5 p.m.
Commissioner Sullivan requested adjournment at 5:34 p.m.
