COMMISSION ON THE ARTS

Monday, August 4, 2014
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Malinda Cooper. The following members
present were Jennifer Brockpahler. Andrew Zehr, Connie Garnett, and Steve Sullivan.
Annual Grant and Spring Special Project Grant Workshop
Both the spring project and the annual grant workshops will be held on September 8 in the
Council Chambers.
Public Forum
No one was present for the public forum.
Approval of June 2, 2014 Minutes
It was moved by Mr. Sullivan and seconded by Ms. Brockpahler to approve the minutes of June
2, 2014. Motion carried unanimously.
New Business
A. There were no comments about reviewing the final project reports.
B. The review of the Annual Grant Applications included suggestions to break the
application into sections both to assist the applicants and to decrease the amount of
paper submitted with each application. The requisite dates were updated for the current
fiscal year. Melissa Mundt said that staff would put the application on the website.
Commissioner Zehr moved for approval of the revised annual grant application; seconded
by Sullivan. The motion was unanimously approved.
C. It was recommended that the Special Projects Grant Application for Spring 2015
follow the same concept to divide the document from the instructions. Ms. Brockpahler
moved for approval, and Mr. Zehr seconded. The motion passed with all voting aye.
D. The commissioners were reminded of the following due dates:
a. September 22 – Spring 2015 Special Project Grant Applications are due.
b. October 9 – 2015/2016 Annual Grant Applications are due.
Upcoming Meetings
The next regular meeting for COTA is September 8, 2014
The following regular meeting is set for October 6, 2014.
