COMMISSION ON THE ARTS

Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:01 p.m. by Chair Malinda Cooper. Members present were
Steve Sullivan, Jon Foley. Jennifer Brockpahler and Connie Garnett were absent.
Public Forum
Andrea Gronau informed the commission that Worldly Goods will host a Slovak wire training
session on Wednesday, June 3. The fee is $10 for participants.
Approval of May 4, 2015 Minutes
It was moved by Commissioner Sullivan and seconded by Commissioner Foley to approve the
May 4, 2015 minutes. The motion carried unanimously.
Fall Special Project Grant Recommendations
ACAC Studio Tour Project – The Commission discussed the Fall Grant amounts. Jon
Foley moved that the City approve $725 for the Ames Community Arts Council studio tour
project. Steve Sullivan seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
Worldly Goods Folk Art Demonstrations - Commissioner Cooper stated that she felt
that Worldly Goods project should be funded for $725. Member Sullivan moved the
recommendation for the $725. Jon Foley seconded. Motion carried (3-0).
Upcoming Meetings/Important Dates
Ms. Cooper opened the discussion about holding a COTA meeting on July 6, 2015. She said
that in her experience on the commission, July meetings have not been held. Cathy Gersema
stated she knew of no business schedule for the July meeting; however, the August meeting
would include approval of both the annual grant application and the spring special projects
application forms.
Steve Sullivan moved the Commission dispense with the July 6 meeting. Jon Foley seconded.
The motion passed unanimously.
The Commission will next meet on August 3, 2015.
Chair Cooper reminded COTA recipients that their audits for the previous fiscal year are due on
or before July 15, 2015.

Commissioner Foley moved adjournment at 5:09 p.m.
