With that amount set aside for special projects, the total of the average awards was $1,374 greater than the available funds. Steve noted the Commission has one new organization not funded in the current fiscal year. All of the proposed allocations represent some increase over last year. He indicated the most consistent groups asking for funding is the Octagon. He suggested perhaps the Octagon’s allocation could be a source of funds for that shortfall. Jason stated the Octagon provided the most “touches” for its COTA funding. It was suggested to reduce KHOI to $3,000, the Octagon to $48,100, Story Theater Company to $10,560, and to increase Ames Chamber Artists to $2,960. Steve outlined how he felt about the KHOI request, as it was new. He viewed this allocation as seed money to help them begin to form their idea.
