Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:02 p.m. by Chair Steve Sullivan. Members present were
Jon Foley, Jason Paull, and Tom Lockhart.
Public Forum
No one was present for Public Forum.
Approval of May 2, 2016 Minutes
Commissioner Lockhart moved to approve the May minutes. Commissioner Foley seconded.
The motion carried unanimously.
Approval of Fall Special Project Grants
The four special project applications were discussed. With the exception of Jason Paull, each
commissioner had submitted a recommendation for each grant application. (He abstained from
recommending and voting during the current process.)
Chair Sullivan asked Mr. Lockhart why he recommended no funds for the India Cultural
Association and he replied that he felt the association had a “narrow focus” and did not
contribute much to the larger community.
It was moved by Commissioner Lockhart and seconded by Jon Foley that the average of
recommendations from the commissioners be approved. The motion carried unanimously.
ACAC - Ames Area Studio Tour Artist Meet-and-Greet $725.00
ACTORS - On-Line Advertising $637.50
India Cultural Association - "Shakuntala: A Classic Love Story" $412.50
Octagon - Eulenspiegel Puppets Performance at Octagon $637.50
Total $2,412.50
Next Meeting
Discussion was held about the July 11 meeting. Since no business needs attending to in July,
Jon Foley moved this meeting should be canceled. Tom Lockhart seconded. The motion
carried unanimously.
The next scheduled meeting of the Commission is August 1, 2016.
Adjournment
Commissioner Foley moved the meeting be adjourned. Jason Paull seconded. The meeting
adjourned at 5:12 p.m.
