COMMISSION ON THE ARTS

Monday, April 4, 2017
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chair Steve Sullivan. Members present were
Deanne Brill and Jason Paull. Jon Foley and Tom Lockhart were not present.
Public Forum
Steve welcomed new Commissioner Deanne Brill.
Valerie Williams, of Co’Motion Dance Theater, announced a program on April 28th and 29th in the
City Auditorium.
Jenny Brockpahler, of ACAC, announced the next Gathering of Artists, followed by the Annual Arts
Awards on April 23rd.
Reid Miller announced on April 22nd, a barn dance will be held at the Annex near Dunkin’ Donuts.
Approval of April 6, 2017 Minutes
Moved by Jason, seconded by Deanne, to approve the minutes of the April 6, 2017 meeting. Motion
carried unanimously.
Fall Special Project Grant Application Workshop
Brian provided an overview of the application process. Members of the audience asked questions to
clarify the process and requirements.
Discussion of Annual Grant Total Amount and Recommendation Timing
Brian discussed the process issues with the City Council establishing the Commission’s annual
funding amount a few weeks later than in the past. The Commissioners indicated they would be
willing to meet the second Monday of January to make recommendations.

Steve reviewed the upcoming important dates.

Jason moved the meeting be adjourned. Deanne seconded. The meeting adjourned at 5:28 p.m.
