HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - COTA Meeting Minutes 02/04/2019Minutes COMMISSION ON THE ARTS Council Chambers City Hall, 515 Clark Avenue Monday, February 4, 2019 Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 5:04 p.m. by Jason Paull. Members present were Deanne Brill, Tom Lockhart, and Natalie Robinson. Chair Steve Sullivan was absent. Staff member Tasheik Kerr was also present. Public Forum Jennifer Brockpahler, Director of the Ames Community Arts Council (ACAC) announced the ACAC is accepting nominations for its 2019 Arts Award Celebration. Applications are due Monday, February 18. The celebration will be held on Sunday, April 28 at the Octagon Center of the Arts. The ACAC next Gathering of Artist will be held on Tuesday, February 19 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Octagon Center of the Arts. The inaugural Business of Art conference will be held on Friday, March 1 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Saturday, March 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Jennifer also announced the ACAC is partnering with the Iowa State Center to host the Iowa Songwriter Showcase. The showcase will be held in the Goldfinch Room on March 2. Approval of the January 7, 2019 Minutes Moved by Tom, seconded by Natalie, to approve the minutes of the January 7, 2019 meeting. Motion carried unanimously. Approval of Fall 2018 Special Project Grant Final Reports Moved by Tom, seconded by Deanne, to approve the Fall 2018 Special Project Grant Final Reports. Motion carried unanimously. Approval of COTA Calendar for Next Fiscal Year Jason reviewed the significant tasks outlined on the calendar. Moved by Tom, seconded by Natalie, to approve the FY 2019/20 COTA calendar. Motion carried unanimously. Approval of Fall 2019 Special Project Grant Application and Materials Moved by Tom, seconded by Deanne to approve the Fall 2019 Special Project Grant Applications and Materials. Motion carried unanimously. Upcoming Important Dates Jason reviewed the upcoming important dates. It was moved by Natalie, seconded by Tom, to cancel the March 4, 2019 meeting. Motion carried unanimously. Adjournment Jason noted this COTA meeting would be his last time on the Commission. Tom moved the meeting be adjourned. The meeting adjourned at 5:14 p.m.
