AMES, IOWA AUGUST 23, 2018
The Ames Civil Service Commission convened in regular session at 8:19 a.m. on August 23, 2018, in
the Council Chambers of City Hall, 515 Clark Avenue. Because it was impractical for the Commission
members to be present in person, Commission Members Mike Crum, Harold Pike, and Charlie Ricketts
were brought into the meeting telephonically. Interim Human Resources Director Bob Kindred also
attended the meeting.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Moved by Pike, seconded by Ricketts, to approve the Minutes of the
July 26, 2018, Civil Service Commission meeting, as written.
Vote on Motion: 3-0. Motion declared carried unanimously.
CERTIFICATION OF ENTRY-LEVEL APPLICANTS: Moved by Pike, seconded by Crum, to
certify the following individuals to the Ames City Council as Entry-Level Applicants:
Principal Clerk:Cyndi Rose 88
Deborah Ammerman 85
Natalie Rekemeyer 81
LuAnne Sodders 78
Maegan Camp 77
Fire Chief Richard Higgins 81
Lynn Washburn-Livingston 74
Vote on Motion: 3-0. Motion declared carried unanimously.
COMMENTS: Interim Human Resources Director Kindred shared that the first candidate for Human
Resources Director will be on site on September 4 and 5, 2018. The candidate will give a presentation
on September 4 (time to be later determined). Noting that the Human Resources Director is the Civil
Service Commission’s Chief of Staff, Mr. Kindred encouraged the Commission members to attend the
presentation. An email will be sent to the Commission members to advise them of the time of the
presentation.
The next regularly scheduled Civil Service Commission meeting will be September 27, 2018, at 8:15
a.m.
ADJOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at 8:27 a.m.
