AMES, IOWA AUGUST 22, 2019
The Regular Session of the Ames Civil Service Commission was called to order by Chairperson Mike
Crum at 8:15 a.m. on August 22, 2019. As it was impractical for the Commission members to attend
in person, Commission Chairperson Mike Crum and Commission Members Harold Pike and Charlie
Ricketts were brought in telephonically.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JULY 25, 2019, REGULAR MEETING: Moved by Pike,
seconded by Ricketts, to approve the Minutes of the July 25, 2019, Regular Civil Service
Commission meeting, as written.
Vote on Motion: 3-0. Motion declared carried unanimously.
CERTIFICATION OF ENTRY-LEVEL APPLICANTS: Moved by Crum, seconded by Pike, to
certify the following individuals to the Ames City Council as Entry-Level Applicants:
Human Resources Analyst Taylor Mithelman 80
Katie Walker 80
Emily Craig 75
Maintenance Worker John Denning 87
Derek Driggers 82
Jeff Engelman 82
Cory Golly 81
Brent Randolph 81
Matt Rochford 81
Media Production Services Coordinator Eric Gebhart 77
Joe Sines 77*
Procurement Specialist II Erin Bullok 82

Vote on Motion: 3-0. Motion declared carried unanimously.
CERTIFICATION OF PROMOTIONAL-LEVEL APPLICANTS: Moved by Ricketts, seconded
by Crum, to certify the following individuals to the Ames City Council as Promotional-Level Applicants:
Electric Line Foreman David Huey 92
Travis Webb 87*
Dillon Christopher 81
*Includes preference points.
Vote on Motion: 3-0. Motion declared carried unanimously.
COMMENTS: Human Resources Department Director Bethany Jorgenson introduced the newly hired
Human Resources Officer Sheila Lane.
The next Civil Service Commission meeting will be September 26, 2019, at 8:15 a.m.
ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned at 8:18 a.m.
