Minutes of the Special Meeting
June 4, 2012
The Ames Public Library (APL) Board of Trustees met in special session on
Wednesday, June 4, 2012, in the library’s Dale H. Ross Board Room at 515 Douglas
Avenue with Bradley, Budd, Campbell, Luckett, Meier, Rawlins, and Stow in attendance.
Manus participated via telephone until her arrival. Schill arrived late. Attorneys Doug
Marek and Bill Graham and Library Director Art Weeks were also present.
Call to Order: Board President Luckett called the meeting to order at 5:04 p.m.
New Business:
Discussion Related to a Performance Evaluation
Library Director Weeks requested that the meeting be closed under the provisions of
Section 21.5(1)(i), Code of Iowa, pertaining to the evaluation of the professional
competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance, or discharge is
being considered.
Moved by Stow, seconded by Campbell, to go into closed session pursuant to
Section 21.5(1)(i), Code of Iowa, as requested.
Roll Call Vote: 8-0. (Voting aye: Bradley, Budd, Campbell, Luckett, Manus,
Meier, Rawlins, and Stow. Not present: Schill.) Motion approved unanimously.
The meeting was closed at 5:05 p.m.
Schill arrived at 5:20 p.m.
Manus arrived at 5:37 p.m.
The meeting was re-opened at 6:49 p.m.
Adjournment: Moved by Bradley, seconded by Schill, to adjourn at 6:53 p.m.
Motion approved unanimously.
The next regular meeting will be on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at 7:00 p.m., in the City
Council Chambers, 515 Clark Avenue.
