Abraham explained that fees for fall/winter are due to increased wages, fuel prices, and supply costs. Abraham stated that as a department the choices are to either raise fees, raise the tax subsidy, or decrease services. To attract staff, the department has had to increase wages, which is estimated to cost $60,000 at Furman alone. Staff recommends Alternative #1. Cramer asked if this increase would offset the increases in wages. Abraham informed her that it would not cover the increase entirely but would help to keep the staff from cutting programs. For example, the contract for mowing and trimming is more than 50% higher than last year. There will be another set of increases in January for the next fiscal year. Ludwig moved, with a second by Reeves, to approve Alternative #1. No discussion. No opposition. Motion Approved. TOUR OF PARKS ADJOURNMENT Bristow moved to adjourn.
