HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Resolution approving closure of 219 metered parking spaces along the parade route form 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and waiver of feesRESOLUTION NO. 26-554 RESOLUTION APPROVING CLOSURE OF METERED PARKING SPACES AND WAIVER OF FEES FOR AMES HIGH SCHOOL HOMECOMING PARADE FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, Ames High School has requested to hold its Homecoming Parade on Monday, September 21, 2026; and, WHEREAS, the parade will start on Main Street west of Clark Avenue and proceed east past Douglas Avenue to the CBD Lot entrance; and, WHEREAS, the parade entries will disperse from the CBD Parking Lot, and it will begin at 6:30 p.m. and last approximately 45 to 60 minutes; and, WHEREAS, to help facilitate this event, the Homecoming Committee asks that the City Council approve the closure of 219 metered parking spaces along the parade route from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and waiver of fees, resulting in a loss of $750.00 to the Parking Fund. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the aforementioned closure of 219 metered parking spaces and waiver of fees for the Ames High School Homecoming Parade on September 21, 2026, is hereby approved.
