HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Resolution approving IDOT Detour Agreement for US 30 Pavement ProjectRESOLUTION NO. 26-531 RESOLUTION APPROVING IDOT DETOUR AGREEMENT FOR US 30 PAVEMENT PROJECT FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) has scheduled a 2027 construction project in the westbound lanes of US 30 in Ames between South Dayton Avenue and South Duff Avenue. To complete the construction project, the westbound interchange ramp at Dayton Avenue (ramp C) along US 30 will be temporarily closed between January 2 and September 15, 2027, and the westbound interchange ramp at Duff Avenue (ramp A) along US 30 will be temporarily closed between January 2 and April 15, 2027.; and, WHEREAS, to accommodate traffic during construction, the IDOT has proposed detouring vehicles onto local roads. The City has been asked to enter into an Agreement for Use of Local Agency Roads as Detours. The designated detour route includes SE 16th Street from South Dayton Avenue to US 69. The closure and detours are marked on the agreement. WHEREAS, the Public Works Traffic Division will continually monitor and adjust signal timings as needed during the detour period. City staff will work closely with the Contractor, Peterson Contractors Inc., on project timing and efforts that can be undertaken to accommodate the particularly heavy traffic in this area related to Iowa State University football game days. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the IDOT Detour Agreement for the US 30 Pavement Project is hereby approved.
