HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - AIPCA Meeting Minutes from May 21, 2026MINUTES Ames International Partner Cities Association Zoom May 21, 2026 Call to Order Treasurer Laura Hansen called to meeting to order of the AIPCA at 5:34pm. In attendance were Susan Gent, Nicki Mackey, Tim and Deb Lentsch, Charlotte Marqueste, Valerie Stallbaumer, Laura Hansen. Absent were Karla McCollum, Marina Kraeva, Katrina Harden Williams, Eric Smidt, Cindy Hicks. Approval of Minutes One correction to the April minutes was under the section: Koshu Committee, line d. Laura said that the “request for host families was sent out”, but she really said that the request will be sent out. Marqueste made the motion to approve the minutes, Mackey seconded it. Approval of Treasury Report A check from the City of Ames for $2,400 was deposited, making the AIPCA balance of $4,845.07. This report was not voted on due to a lack of quorum. Koshu Committee A spreadsheet was sent to Hansen and Kraevashowing the names of the host families in Koshu for the upcoming trip of student delegates from Ames. Concerning the trip of the Koshu student delegates to Ames, an email was sent out today to AIPCA members for application to be host families in September, 2026. Background checks for host families will be conducted. Hansen was scheduling an in-person meeting for any volunteers to help plan the itinerary for the students from Japan coming in September, 2026. She will send out an email. Gent and Mackey said they were interested in attending. Gent commented that she is working with Bob Aders and Deb Bond-Anders and possibly Susan Norris to design a collage of paper and small items that the Ames students can bring back from their upcoming July trip to Koshu. This collage could be displayed in the Ames Public Library vestibule in September to help educate people about Koshu and the student trip there. Kosovo Committee There was no meeting. Discuss Bylaws Mayor Haila has not yet responded to McCollum about the suggested updates. New Business The idea of a mural indicating artwork about our sister cities has been discussed. The location is not yet decided. Adjourn Hanen adjourned the meeting at 6:18pm.
