Meeting Minutes

1.Call to order –5:32
2.Approval of August minutes -motion by Cindy second Marina approved by all
3.Approval of treasurer ’s report -motion michael,second Valerie approved by all
4.Ames Middle School
a.Virtual Exchange -Ellie has started collecting applications for students to
participate on exchange.Koshu is concerned about when the exchange is taking
place and would like to ensure we have translators.
b.Kosovo pen pals -Mayor is very excited and reached out to schools in Kosovo.
Ellie and Katrina can start talks with the schools directly and are moving things
forward.
c.2024 Koshu trip -no new details to share.Will begin talks after the delegation
visit next month.

i.Notable changes:to keep them engaged and not in a basement for three
hours,the walking tour of downtown will include engagement and
collaboration among targeted business owners.Someone with 4-H may
present at Reiman Gardens lunch on collaboration opportunity with Koshu
on a food safety project.Presentation and tour of ISURP
ii.Cindy to check with Ellie and Katrina on if delegation needs ID to tour the
Middle School.They will need ID for the wine tour.
b.Budget -
i.Breakfast will have to be provided each day.This has already been
budgeted.
ii.About $5k taken from AIPCA budget,but Cindy is working to gain some
more donations.
c.Volunteers -
i.Valerie has taken Tuesday off to be with the delegation.Nicki is available
to help out where needed.
d.Gifts -Valerie donating the pens (and hand-made pen holders),and has worked
with Raygun on a design for the tshirts.Marina is getting custom made pottery
pieces made,which she will cover the cost of.
e.Other
i.Adaption of new partnership agreement –proposal of adding a term limit
so we can review the agreement every 5-10 years.
ii.Approval of proclamation
iii.September 26 10:30-11:30 will be a final zoom meeting with the mayor,
Chamber,and AIPCA to discuss all final details.Any board members
interested in attending are encouraged to join -just send Cindy an email.
6.Other
a.The President of Kosovo is coming to Iowa in October.Board members are
invited to a luncheon with her at DMACC.Cindy has asked for additional
information and will share with the board when available.
