4.Ames Middle School
a.Virtual Exchange -Ellie is setting up a meeting with Koshu to discuss a virtual
exchange.No tentative dates at this time.
b.Kosovo pen pals
i.Iowa and Kosovo are sister states.They have a sister state penpal
program going on.Pudejevo would like to do a pen pal program with
Ames students to give them an opportunity to practice English and to
share cultural experiences.
ii.Cindy will share information with Ellie.
c.2024 Koshu trip -Ellie and Katrina to discuss and work on identifying the
students for the trip.
i.Because of the pandemic,there has not been an exchange for three
years,and several students (approx 20)who wanted to visit,but couldn’t.
Would like to focus the group on 8-9 graders.
ii.Scholarship opportunity for students who cannot afford the trip offered
thru the Chamber.
iii.No specific date set,but likely will be in June or July.
iv.Cindy to send Ellie information on previous Japan trips.

b.Budget -CIndy has secured about $5000 in donations from City and Chamber to
help pay for needs.Still need about $6500k.If anyone knows a few people who
may be willing to donate,please ask -or send their contact info to Cindy and
she’ll ask.May send a flier to our newsletter contacts to ask for additional
donations.

d.Gifts -Marina found an artist willing to custom-make some pottery.Valerie has
looked into tshirts with Raygun,stickers through Octagon,and pens through
Cyclone Awards.
