Meeting Minutes
Attending:Calli Sandahl,Cindy Hicks,Michael Abrams,Katrina Williams,Marina Kraeva,
Valarie Staulbaumer,Micki Mackey
1.Call to order –6:00 pm
2.Eat Dinner /Discuss Koshu Trip
a.Board members who visited Koshu shared their highlights from the trip.
Highlights included the school visit,Taiko drums,making food,seeing familiar
faces,and the pride shown throughout the trip.
3.Recognize Jen Malone for service
a.Jen was unable to attend.Will recognize at a future meeting.
4.Approve May minutes
a.Motion to approve,Valerie;second,Calli;approved by all
5.Approve Treasurer’s report
a.Will approve at August meeting.
6.Discuss Koshu visit in October
a.12 delegates will arrive Sunday October 15,and leave Wednesday,October 18.
b.Monday,October 16 will include Chamber and City visits.Large celebration to
take place on Monday.
c.Tuesday,October 17 will include a middle/high school visit,and Iowa State tour
d.August meeting will focus on planning the delegation.Calli will type up brainstorm
ideas mentioned during Koshu trip and will send to board.
7.Other
a.Katrina Williams will be leaving the board and Ellie Caldwell will take over the
education representation.
b.Students are eager for another trip to Japan;Koshu has indicated they want to do
another exchange in 2024.
