Meeting Minutes
Attending: Calli Sandahl, Cindy Hicks, Marina Kraeva, Michael Abrams, Katrina Williams, Valerie

1.Call to order: 5:35
2.Approval of August Minutes
a.Nevermind, we did not have minutes for August
3.New Treasurer
a.Lisa Shen does not have the time to serve as a treasurer, so we are still in need.
b.Cindy to post on Social media asking for people to serve.
c.Cindy to contact the City to see if there are any folks looking to join a board / if
there’s anyone waiting for a spot to open up.
d.Cindy to send an email to our members asking if anyone would like to serve
4.Kosovo Mayor Visit
a.The mayor of Pudevejo is wondering if him and his chief of staff could stop up in
Ames during the Kosovo trip to Iowa to meet the mayor, tour the city, etc.
b.Will be in Ames November 14 & 15 – Cindy has set up mayoral visits for Nov. 14,
and will set up tours for Nov. 15. A pre-meeting is set for November 2 or 4, Cindy
will email the board members with information to let anyone attend who would
like to.
c.Prof. Curtiss Youngs at ISU is already working to build partnerships with Kosovo
and Ames, and would like to take part in the partnership
d.Karla McCollumn was the Exec. Director at Iowa Sister States and is interested in
serving on a committee for the partnership
5.Koshu Update
a.They are interested in a card exchange for winter break. Cindy would like help
spearheading that project.
i.Katrina and Nicki have volunteered to help spearhead the project.
ii.Cindy will send an email introduction to the Koshu reps to get the ball
rolling so cards can be exchanged before the new year.
6.Other Sister City Possibilities
a.To be discussed next month or in January due to other, more timely, projects.
7.Annual Newsletter
a.Calli to send last year ’s newsletter out for reference.
b.New board members Nicki and Victoria to write a short intro about themselves.
c.Marina - Article about virtual exchange
d.Cindy - article about Kosovo update
e.Article / mention about the winter break cards
f.Help wanted ad(s) for treasurer / people to serve on board / committees
8.Other
a.Michael has been working on building a Sister City intake form and shared his
draft after discussions with Muscatine. Michael will send it to the board for
feedback.
