Meeting Minutes
Attending: Cindy Hicks, Calli Sandahl, Marina Kraeva, Nicki Mackey, Michael Abrams, Steven
McKinney, Jen Malone, Valerie Stallbaumer
1.Call to order: 5:31pm
2.Approval of June Minutes
a.Motion to approve - Michael
b.Seconded - Nicki, approved by all
3.Treasurer ’s Report
a.Motion to approve - Marina
b.Seconded - Steven, approved by all
4.New Treasurer
a.Jen’s term is up and needs to sit off for a year. We are in need of a new treasurer.
Looking for someone who can prepare a treasurer ’s report each month, and pull
together grant proposals – minimum 15 minutes/month, could be up to 60
during busy seasons.
b.Possibly bringing Lisa Shen back, if she’s not interested, we will send an email out
to our member to seek interested parties.
c.Will look over the Bylaws to ensure we’re meeting our quotas (ACSD and City
reps). If okay, then we can pursue Lisa / membership.
5.Forming new sister city partnerships
a.Governor Reynolds is very interested in connecting Iowa to Kosovo.
b.Cindy is meeting with a professor at Iowa State who travels often to Kosovo and
could be a great person to lead our efforts in building a relationship with Kosovo.
c.Venito region of Italy and Yucatan, Mexico are other likely choices as they’re
already sister states with Iowa.
d.Michael to draft an intake process. Cindy to connect Michael to an Iowa city that
is familiar with the sister city process so all processes and requirements are
documented.
6.Other
a.2023 Koshu trip: Koshu has placed their decision on hold until January. However,
this means we cannot attend the delegation with Iowa to Yamanashi in the
Spring. Cindy to connect with her contacts and see if we can attend the
delegation with the State.
b.Website update: Steven will send the link out to the board to review and send
revisions / edits.
