Meeting Minutes
Attending: Marina Kraeva, Calli Sandahl, Michael Abrams, Jen Malone, Cindy Hicks
1. Call to Order 5:30 PM
2. Approval of December Minutes – Motion by Marina, Second Jen, Approved by all
3. Approval of Treasurer’s Report – Motion by Cindy, Second Marina, Approved by all
4. Updates:
a. Japan 2022 Updates / Virtual Student Partners
i. Cindy was able to reach contact at Koshu, and they are very interested in a
virtual exchange. The largest hurdle has been translation – we hope the
Yamanashi connection will help with this.
ii. Can also get help with the video creation. Next steps to wait on him to have free
time and get the video set up in Japan.
iii. Need to think about format – previous examples include individual videos on
various topics (e.g. food), and then one live video for students to interact with
each other and ask questions.
1. Add a pen pal element to help students build connections with each
other?
iv. Possibly need a sub-committee to help facilitate and coordinate the exchange.
Katrina to represent the board – her education background makes good sense.
v. Cindy to connect with Yamanashi and Koshu about engagement opportunities,
and 2023 connections.
b. Newsletter
i. Include a call for volunteers for the Virtual Student Partners in the newsletter.
ii. Add Steven’s Bio added
iii. Distribution Plan:
1. Mail out to members – Jen to include an envelope with address printed
to encourage to send in membership checks.
2. Also email the newsletter out to hit people twice.
3. Calli to figure out printing / mailing and converse with Jen on prices.
c. Website Update
i. No updates as of today.
