Present: Lisa Shen, Calli Sandahl, Marina Kraeva, Linda Livingston, Jen Malone, Katrina Harden Williams
Approval of September 2020 Minutes: 1st Jen Malone, 2nd Calli Sandahl, Passed by all
Treasurer’s Report:
Some of Koshu grant money will be used for newsletter and to keep communication with Koshu
Motion to use AIPCA surplus funds to pay for the gifts to the four former board members: 1st
Linda Livingston, 2nd Calli Sandahl, Passed by all
Approval of Treasurer’s Report: 1st Marina Kraeva, 2nd Linda Livingston, Passed by all
1. Old Business:
a. City did not appoint a board member yet.
b. AIPCA Facebook page continues to get new “likes.”
i. It was suggested to have “Post your Favorite Memory” photo contest on Facebook. Calli
Sandahl will investigate how to implement this.
ii. The video that Cindy Hicks is working on can be added to the Facebook page.
c. No updates on online membership fee process. Calli Sandahl will check how to add PayPal
Donate button to the AIPCA Facebook page.
d. Still have not heard from the city mayor in Tunisia nor from Lotfi Ben Othmane
e. Lisa Shen and Jen Malone will work on grant proposals to support relationships with cities in
Tunisia, Japan and Kosovo (due November 15, 2020)
i. Koshu City, Japan: gifts and ½ of airline cost for 2 delegation leaders
ii. Kosovo: Iowa Sister States still pursuing relationship with Kosovo; a delegation from
Kosovo is expected in December.
2. New Business
a. Next meeting on November 19, 5:30pm, Virtual (no meeting in December, Newsletter
assembling meeting in January)
b. Ideas for the newsletter:
i. Include photos from the “Post your Favorite Memory” photo contest on Facebook.
ii. Include excerpts from the letter from the Koshu City mayor and from our response
letter.
iii. Introduce new board members.
iv. Talk about retired board members.
v. Calli Sandahl has experience creating newsletters.
