Minutes April 18, 2019
Ames city Hall-Conference Room 135
Those present: Board members Lisa Shen, Jen Malone, Dianne Brotherson, Judy Jones, Lana Pavlik, Sarah Buss and Karlai Thornburg. Also present: Calli Sandahl from Ames Chamber
I. Call to Order (Lisa Shen) at 5:00 p.m.
II. Approval of February 2019 Minutes – Motion to approve minutes by Brotherson 2nd Thornburg.
Motion approved.
III. Approval of the Treasurer’s Report (Jen Malone) Malone reported on March and April 2019.
Ames city grant 17-18 -$643.84 left on March 31, 2019. The 18-19 grant request was $6,000
which we will receive in July. Additional income for February were membership dues $200 and
donations $225. Our AIPCA bank total 3/31/19 after this additional income is $9,514.85.
Brotherson moved to approve the report with 2nd from Jones. Motion approved.
IV. Old Business/Updates
A. April 8 Kosovo meeting feedback. Several people attended with interest but no one
really signed up. The Board will ask Tom Sauer to lead the new Kosovo team.
Brotherson and Thornburg will also be on the team. Discussed some ideas, emphasis
economics, adult, pen pals.
B. Kosovo sister city next step subcommittee. The Board will ask Tom Sauer to lead the new
team. Brotherson and Thornburg will also be on the team.
C. AIPCA FY19-20 budget - Discussed
V. New Business
A. Annual meeting – Jones will check on dates June 26 or 27 with Bethesda and City Church.
Back up date June 5 or 6. Since we did not have a delegation this year, there will be no
formal program so attendance should be down. Will look for a room for 25-30. We will
have desserts. More planning will be at the May meeting.
B. Other – Pavlik will work with principle Yonas Michael and see if any teachers are
interested in the Kosovo focus. Pavlik will contact Susan Norris also for interest.
VI. Adjourned at 6:10 p.m. Moved by Pavlik, 2nd Brotherson. Approved. Next meeting will be on Thursday May 16, 2019 City Hall Submitted by Judy Jones, secretary
