HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - AIPCA Meeting Minutes from May 10, 2018 AMES INTERNATIONAL PARTNER CITIES ASSOCIATIONAmes, Iowa Minutes - Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 5:00pm City Hall Those present: Board members Lisa Shen, JenMalone, Lana Pavlik, Judy Jones, Karlai Thornburg Call to Order by President Lisa Shen at 5:10 Approval of March minutes: A Motion by Pavlik, 2nd by Thornburg. Passed. Treasurer’s Report -Malone presented the treasurers’ report covering activities formonth of April. Expenses for April include airline travel of $3,625. Travel reimbursement and membership fees added $1,590. The April 2018 balance was $7,585.32. Motion to approvetreasurer’s report: Thornburg, 2ndShen. The report was approved. Old Business A. June 2018 Youth delegation planninga. Youth delegate selection update orientation meeting: Shen reported all orientation and information meetings have been held. Dates for the trip July 2 to July 9. Airfare has been purchased. b.Delegation gifts T-shirts will be ordered for delegates, and for delegates to take for their hosts. The shirts include the logo design for 25 years. Malone moved and 2nd by Jones to order up to 80 extra shirts for delegates to take for staff in Koshu and also additional for the fall delegation to Ames. All will be ordered if it helps pricing. If we can order at later date with no extra costs, we can do that. Delegates have paid $15 for their shirts. Malone will follow up with the tags that can be handed out to people in Japan. The gift to the Japan group will be a framed picture. Jones will check on possibility of paperweights and if the 25th logo can be engraved on them. B. Annual meeting (July 19). Brotherson will chair the planning committee. 5. New Business: A. Kosovo update. Shen and Brotherson attended the City Diplomacy Summit. A lot waslearned about this project. A speaker from this group will talk at our annual meeting and lay out opportunities with Kosovo. B. The fall delegation from Japan will arrive in Ames September 20, 2018. They will leave September 25. C. Change June meeting date: now June 14. We will start planning for the September delegation. The May 24 meeting date was cancelled. D. Other: Koshu still in need of applications for teachers. We will tell them we have no applications at this time. Motion to Adjourn:Meeting adjourned 6:10.
