HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - AIPCA Meeting Minutes from October 15, 2015 MINUTES AMES INTERNATIONAL PARTNER CITIES ASSOCIATION Ames, Iowa Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 5:00pm Ames City Hall Present: Dianne Brotherson, Lana Pavlik, Carol VanWaardhuizen, Tom Sauer, Bill Diesslin, and Jen Malone Guest Natalie Carran Call to Order at 5:08 p.m. Approval of August Minutes Motion by VanWaardhuizen, second by Pavlik, approved. Treasurer’s Report Malone reported balance of $7923.52 before expenses from delegation activities. Discussion regarding honoraria for translators.Motion by Diesslin, second by Van Waardhuizen to offer April Wang $250 and Moe Hanson $100.Appproved.Grant proposal to City due Nov. 15 to request funds for next year. Old Business: Wrap Up from September Koshu City AdultExchange Very positive feedback on delegation experience. Farewell party was thought one of best. Reiman Gardens was good venue but has some limitations so should make arrangement earlier next time if possible. May also wish to explore other venues like Prairie Moon Winery.Scheduled Oct. 19 at 7:00 p.m. to prepare thank you notes for host families and businesses.Will meet at the Brotherson’s. Discussion concerning hosting a delegation every year and the amount of effort needed. New Business 2016Youth delegation to Koshu– June. Bill and Jen Malone have offered to lead. Will start advertising at the end of the month through schools and other outlets. Plan informational meeting on November 7 in the Ames Middle School cafeteria. 2016Youth delegation from Koshu - September Art project for Ames and Koshu.Carran discussed “Binoculars” project being organized by Ames Public Art Commission. Project would allow citizens in Ames and Koshu to observe real-time views of sister city. Cost is $40,000 and $30,000 has been raised so far. Newsletter/Christmas letter will be prepared in December.
