AMES INTERNATIONAL PARTNER CITIES ASSOCIATION

Thursday, March 27, 2014 5:00 p.m.
Attending: Diane Brotherson, and Tom Sauer
Absent: Judy Jones, John Kolb, Stacey Culhane, Bill Diesslin, Lana Pavlik, Jen
Malone, and Carol Van Waardhuizen
Guest: Roger Enkstrom
1. Chair Dianne Brotherson calls to order at 5:15 p.m.
2. Minutes
- Reviewed February meeting minutes.
3. Treasurer’s report
- Balance of $6,811.40.
4. Old Business/Updates
A. Report on World Friendship Day
- Jen Malone and Dianne Brotherson gave a presentation on last year’s
adult delegation. Carol Van Waardhuizen and Judy Jones also attended
and assisted with display.
B. June youth delegation to Koshu City June 8-15
- Eighteen students have been selected. Bill Malone will lead with Lavonne
Rus and Linda Livingston chaperones. First informational meeting led by
Bill Diesslin on March 13.
- Delegates will be keeping a journal and taking pictures of the food that
they eat. They will also go with 20-25 questions that they can ask their
hosts about Japan and Japanese culture.
- The next meeting is April 3.
- Estimated airfare is $2200.
- Discussion on whether parents can accompany students.
5. New Business
A. Date for annual meeting. Suggest 3rd or 4th Thursday in June after delegation
returns
B. Discussion of need for public relations officer.
6. Next meeting April 17
