AMES INTERNATIONAL PARTNER CITIES ASSOCIATION

Thursday, February 20, 2014 5:00 p.m.
Attending:, Judy Jones, Diane Brotherson, Jen Malone, Carol Van Waardhuizen, and
Tom Sauer
Absent: John Kolb, Stacey Culhane, Bill Diesslin, Lana Pavlik,
1. Chair Dianne Brotherson calls to order at 5:08 p.m.
2. Minutes
- Reviewed January meeting minutes. Motion by Jones to accept, second by
van Waardhuizen, passed.
3. Treasurer’s report.
- Balance of $4441.76. No activity. Request to city for $2100 reimbursement
for costs associated with hosing last Japanese delegation
4. Old Business/Updates
A. Kyle Hurst’s AET application. Forwarded to Koshu City on Jan. 22.
B. June youth delegation to Koshu City June 8-15.
a) 19 applications received so far. Brotherson will meet with AMS
members to review and screen applications on Feb. 24.
b) Diesslin will conduct cultural introduction/training.
c) Chaperones – Bill Malone likely. Sunny (?) and Diesslin possible.
d) Estimated cost $2500. Discussion of potential fundraiser again at
Fuji or other restaurant.
C. Grant update. We were awarded $5000 from city for 2014-15.
D. World Friendship Day Saturday March 1st from 2-4 p.m. at City Church.
AIPCA will have a display, 20 PowerPoint presentation, and origami
activity.
5. Suggest former delegates email Japanese hosts regarding recent snowstorm.
6. Next meeting March 27
