AMES INTERNATIONAL PARTNER CITIES ASSOCIATION
Ames, Iowa
Thursday, January 16, 2014 5:00 p.m.
Attending: Stacey Culhane, Bill Diesslin, Judy Jones, Diane Brotherson, Jen Malone,
Lana Pavlik, Carol Van Waardhuizen, and Tom Sauer
Absent: John Kolb
Guest: Kyle Hurst
1. Chair Dianne Brotherson calls to order at 5:00 p.m.
2. Members introduced themselves to visitor. Kyle Hurst is new AET applicant.
Brief discussion of his background and details of the position.
3. Minutes
- Reviewed November meeting notes (no quorum at that meeting).
4. Treasurer’s report.
- Balance of $4441.76. Paid Jazzy Lads for performance at Japanese
delegation farewell. Reimbursement of delegation hosting costs. Income
from memberships. Postage and printing costs for holiday newsletter. Will
seek reimbursement from City. Motion to approve by Culhane, second by
Malone, approved.
5. Old business
A. AIPCA holiday card (still need some addresses)
B. AET update (will inform Japan of candidate)
C. June delegation to Koshu City
a) Finalize dates – June 8-15 (confirm with Koshu City)
b) Recruitment – Ask Charlene to put in middle school
announcements. Arrange for Infinite Campus message.
c) Diesslin will coordinate informational/cultural training.
d) Air fare – make inquiries.
e) Consider paying part of air fare for chaperones, amount dependent
on ticket cost and available funds.
f) Chaperones – Kolb and Bill or Jen Malone interested. Diesslin if
necessary.
D. No confirmation yet from Koshu City regarding September youth
delegation.
6. New business
- World Friendship Day Saturday March 1. AIPCA invited to participate with
Friendship Force and ISU Women’s Club. Jones, Malone, and Van
Waardhuizen volunteered to assist.
7. Adjourn. Motion by Diesslin, second by Pavlik. Adjourned at 5:50 p.m.
