AMES INTERNATIONAL PARTNER CITIES ASSOCIATION

Thursday, August 15, 2013 5:00 p.m.
Attending: Dianne Brotherson, Tom Sauer, Jen Malone, Carol Van Waardhuizen

Guests: Judy Kemp, Craig Van Waardhuizen, Susan Gwiasda (City of Ames)

Motion to approve by Malone, second by Sauer, passed.
Treasurer’s Report
No report
New Business
Koshu City Visit (12-14 adult delegates, Sept. 17-22)
Discussion of day-by-day activities.
Wed. 18th is City Day. Meet mayor and tour city hall and perhaps fire station and Mary Greeley in a.m. Lunch will be at five downtown restaurants followed by a scavenger hunt and bike
tour. Tour of Olde Main Brewery and welcome dinner in the evening.
Thurs. 19th is School Day. Delegation will visit Meeker Elementary and Ames Middle School in a.m. Afternoon activities are a tour of the ISU Horticulture Farm, campus walking tour,
and visit to Memorial Union.
Fri. 20th is Des Moines Day. The day starts with a tour of the state capitol and grounds and visit to the State Historical Museum. Lunch will be at the Machine Shed Restaurant followed
by a visit to Living History Farms and shopping at Jordan Creek Mall (time permitting).
Sat. 21st is Host Family Day. Sayonara Party at Oakwood Church. Still need to arrange entertainment.
Other Business
CappyDobyns is preparing a newsletter.
Plans are pending for youth delegations both to and from Japan in 2014.
