AMES INTERNATIONAL PARTNER CITIES ASSOCIATION
Ames, Iowa
Thursday, April 18, 2013 5:00 p.m.
Attending: Kathleen Ary, Judy Jones, Judy Kemp, Bill Diesslin, Dianne Brotherson,
Stacey Culhane, and Tom Sauer
Absent: Lana Pavlik
I. Chair Judy Kemp calls to order at 5:05 p.m.
II. March Minutes
- Motion to approve by Jones, second by Brotherson, passed.
III. Treasurer’s Report
- Balance $6,358.09.
- Motion to approve by Brotherson, second by Ary, passed.
IV. Old Business
A. Alycia update. She is now in Japan and doing very well.
B. Database update. Board members started making calls to active and
inactive members. Mostly positive responses. Efforts will continue and
suggest sending a report to Jones summarizing interest.
C. Delegation update. Met April 11 for icebreaker activity and presentation
on etiquette. Plan to go to Fuji Steakhouse on May 7 or 8 as a social
event. Discussion of obtaining yen in Ames before leaving and making
copies of passports in case any get lost. Airfare cost was approximately
$1600.
D. Annual Meeting June 27 at Oakwood Road Community Center. Jones will
prepare e-vite. Attendees will be asked to provide a salad or dessert. The
theme will be a 20th anniversary celebration of the Japan exchange.
E. New board members. Kemp’s term ends July 1. New school district and
city board members are needed. Brotherson has agreed to be President.
V. New Business
A. Yuki, currently staying with Klaus’, is in need of a host family June 13-23.
B. Reviewing AIPCA bylaws. Began reviewing bylaws to consider if changes
and/or updates are necessary. Will continue review at future meetings.
VI. Ary motion to adjourn, second by Culhane, passed and adjourned at 6:02
p.m.
