HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - AIPCA Meeting Minutes from February 21, 2013MINUTES AMES INTERNATIONAL PARTNER CITIES ASSOCIATION Ames, Iowa Thursday, February 21, 2013 5:00 p.m. Attending: Judy Kemp, Bill Diesslin, Dianne Brotherson, Lana Pavlik, and Tom Sauer Absent: Stacey Culhane, Kathleen Ary, Judy Jones Guests: Dave Brotherson Chair Judy Kemp calls to order at 5:00 p.m. Minutes Motion to accept by Diesslin, second by Brotherson, passed. Treasurer’s Report No activity. Balance $6,378.39. Brotherson has made a down payment on tickets for the adult delegation. Motion to accept by Pavlik, second by Kemp, passed. Old Business Alycia’s Departure. Will likely depart in late March. Still needs visa from consulate in Chicago. Note – officials in Japan (customs/immigration) require a physical address of where you will be visiting/staying during visit. Delegation to Koshu City in June (Dianne Brotherson). Tentatively 3rd week in June. Current ticket price is ~$2100. Have several individuals committed with several more interested. Hoping for a group of ~10. Would like someone with chamber of commerce connection. First informational meeting scheduled to March 4 at the ISU Environmental Health and Safety Building. Delegation from Koshu City. Tentatively 3rd week in September. Mayor Campbell has sent letter of invitation. Will coincide with 20th anniversary of AIPCA. Discussion of appropriate gifts and use of new city logo/flag. Grant Update. AIPCA received $5000 from city for 2013-14. New Business Friendship Force Friendship Day March 15 at Oakwood Road Church. Diane Opdahl will represent AIPCA. Will distribute flyers to publicize. Potential sister city relationship with Wulfrath, Germany. Discussion concerning procedure for establishing relationship. Would complement ongoing student exchange with Ames High School German students.
