HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - AIPCA Meeting Minutes from April 19, 2012MINUTES AMES INTERNATIONAL PARTNER CITIES ASSOCIATION Ames, Iowa April 19, 2012, 5 PM Attending: Dianne Brotherson, Cappie Dobyns, Oye Pitcher, Ken Hampson, and Tom Sauer Guest: Lana Pavlik Absent: Kathleen Ary, Sharlene Sullivan, Pat Sauer, Yonas Michael, Judy Jones, Judy Kemp, and Bill Diesslin Call to Order 5:04 p.m., Dianne Brotherson presiding Approval of March 22 - Read, no motion to approve (lack of quorum) Treasurers Report - Diesslin forwarded details of financial activity to Brotherson. $55 in new memberships. $75 donation. $500 donation from Fuji Steakhouse fundraiser. Balance is $8564. Brotherson read Diesslin’s letter of thanks to Fuji owner. June Annual Meeting and Next Newsletter - June annual general meeting (AGM) will be held June 21 or 28. Oakwood Road Church/Community Center has been reserved for both dates. Discussion concerned arrangements and opportunities to encourage greater attendance. It was suggested that Hickory Park cater meat, board members provide drinks (water and lemonade), and guest provide pot luck salad or dessert. The event would be BYOB. Members of youth delegation will be encouraged to attend and report on their trip. - Desire expressed to get next newsletter out before AGM. Dobyns indicated that she could produce newsletter after ACSD classes end. Newsletter should include listing of new and retiring board members, details on AGM, list of youth delegates and their itinerary, and summary of their pre-trip meetings/meetings. Youth Exchange - Some details on logistics of delegation remain to be finalized. Host family have not yet been identified. Bus transport to airport needs to be arranged. An extra board meeting may be necessary to finalize arrangements. It was suggested that a website be established after the delegation’s return to display photos and presentations. Koshu City Updates - A new International Committee was seated on April 1. - Some discussion on upcoming Koshu adult or youth delegations to Ames. - Dobyns noted that copies of AHS newspaper article and trip CD’s intended as gifts for last Koshu youth delegation were never delivered.
