RESOLUTION NO. 26-489
RESOLUTION APPROVING
VOLUNTARY ANNEXATION OF TERRITORY
TO THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, pursuant to
Section 368.7, Code of Iowa, that the voluntary annexation of land to the City of Ames
described as follows and shown on the attached map is hereby approved:
more particularly described as:
Lots 1-35 and Outlots X, Y, and Z, in the Irons Subdivision, Story County, Iowa;
AND
Parcel F, Sec. 21 Twp. 84 Rng. 24, Story County, Iowa;
AND
Street Lot A except the South 20 feet thereof, the Irons Subdivision, Story County, Iowa;
AND
The North Half of Street Lot C, the Irons Subdivision, Story County, Iowa;
AND
Street Lot D, the Irons Subdivision, Story County, Iowa;
AND
Street Lot B, The Irons Subdivision, Story County, Iowa.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council has determined that, pursuant
to Iowa Code Section 368.7(5), it is appropriate to allow for a transition for the imposition of
city taxes against the property within the annexation area described herein, and that the
appropriate exemption from taxation shall apply to all property owners included in the
annexation and shall be at the following percentages of assess valuation according to the
following three-year schedule: (a) Seventy-five percent in year one, (b) Fifty percent in year
two, and (c) Twenty-five percent in year three.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall file a copy of this resolution,
map, and legal description with the Story County Recorder, the Iowa Secretary of State,
and the Iowa Department of Transportation.
ADOPTED THIS 28th day of July, 2026.
