RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT RENEWAL
FOR WASTE COLLECTION & DISPOSAL SERVICES AT CITY FACILITIES
FOR THE FLEET SERVICES DEPARTMENT, CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, waste collection and disposal services for various City facilities and
locations are provided through a contracted third -party service provider. The current
contract was competitively bid in 2022 and has historically been approved at the City
Manager level. In accordance with the contract terms, the fifth and final contract year
allows for an annual rate increase of up to 5%. Aspen Waste has exercised the full 5%
increase for FY 2026/27.
IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as
follows:
Section One. Award of contract is made as follows:
Aspen Waste Systems, of Des Moines, IA, for Waste Collection & Disposal
Services at City Facilities for July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, in an
amount not to exceed $51,594.12. Costs associated with these services
shall be invoiced directly to the individual departments receiving service.
Section Two. The City Manager and City Clerk are authorized to execute said
contract for and on behalf of the City of Ames, Iowa, and to affix the corporate seal
of the City thereto.
Section Three. All resolutions or orders or parts thereof in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
