RESOLUTION RESCINDING MASTER PLAN
FOR 3299, 3312, 3699 EAST 13TH STREET AND 1699 570TH AVENUE
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, on December 19, 2006, the City Council approved a Master Plan for
the development of The Shops at East Prairie. The subject sites were at one time
approved for the large-scale development of a regional mall and power retail center; and,
WHEREAS, since that time, the original developer did not undertake the project
and all of the land is now under common ownership by a different entity; and,
WHEREAS, the current land owner has no plans to develop a regional mall and
lifestyle shopping center on the site; and,
WHEREAS, the owner is requesting through the rezoning process that the Master
Plan be rescinded; and,
WHEREAS, although there is no specific proposal for the site at this time, the
developer desires to develop commercial on the site in the future. Development of
commercial at this location is an important part of the City’s Comprehensive Plan as a
premier site for commercial development within the city due to access and visibility.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,
Iowa, that rescinding Resolution No. 06-343 thereby rescinding the Master Plan is hereby
approved. All resolutions or orders or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
