RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGE IN BID DUE DATE
FOR 69KV TRANSMISSION LINE RECONSTRUCTION FROM TOP O HOLLOW
SUBSTATION TO AMES PLANT SUBSTATION PROJECT
FROM MAY 27, 2026, TO JUNE 10, 2026,
AND OF PUBLIC HEARING FROM JUNE 9, 2026, TO JUNE 23, 2026
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, Electric Services is undergoing a multi-year process to reconstruct
portions of its aging 69kV transmission system. This portion of the project will replace
approximately two miles of transmission line. This is the second of four reconstruction
phases. The first phase, reconstructing lines between Mortensen Road and Vet Med
substations, has been completed in the current fiscal year; this second phase will be
completed in FY 2026/27; and,
WHEREAS, on April 28, 2026, the City Council approved preliminary plans and
specifications for this project setting May 27, 2026, as the bid due date, and June 9, 2026,
as the date of Public Hearing; and,
WHEREAS, due to delays in the interested bidders receiving pricing for the
required materials, staff has deemed it would be in the City's best interest to extend the
bid due date to allow the interested bidders sufficient time to obtain material pricing in
order for them to submit fully comprehensive bids.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,
Iowa, that the change in bid due date for 69kV Transmission Line Reconstruction from
Top O Hollow Substation to Ames Plant Substation project from May 27, 2026, to June
10, 2026, and changing the date of Public Hearing from June 9, 2026, to June 23, 2026
is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 26th day of May, 2026.
