RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT RENEWAL
FOR HEALTH INSURANCE ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES
FOR THE HUMAN RESOUCES DEPARTMENT, CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, for the past two decades Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Iowa
has been the City’s provider for administrative services and excess coverage for the self -
insured health and pharmacy programs. Wellmark was originally awarded this contract
after a competitive Request for Proposals. Wellmark also has advantageous contractual
relationships with medical providers in Ames and throughout Iowa that allow the City to
receive significant discounts on services received.
IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as
follows:
Section One. Award of contract is made as follows:
Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Iowa for Health Insurance
Administrative Services for the one-year period of July 1, 2026, to June 30,
2027, in the amount of $1,970,584.
Section Two. The City Manager and City Clerk are authorized to execute said
contract for and on behalf of the City of Ames, Iowa, and to affix the corporate seal
of the City thereto.
Section Three. All resolutions or orders or parts thereof in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
