HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Resolution approving Temporary Closure of 9th St for Memorial Day Parade on May 25, 2026RESOLUTION NO. 26-282 RESOLUTION APPROVING TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF A PORTION OF 9TH STREET FOR MEMORIAL DAY PARADE FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, each year, the Ames Patriotic Council conducts a community observance of Memorial Day, and this observance involves a parade from City Hall to the Municipal Cemetery followed by a memorial service at the cemetery; and, WHEREAS, the Patriotic Council requests that on May 25, 2026, 9th Street between Clark Avenue and Maxwell Avenue (between 9:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.) be closed temporarily as the parade moves through the intersection; and, WHEREAS, it should be noted that temporary closures of residential streets that intersect 9th Street will occur as the parade progresses; and, WHEREAS, the intersection closure will last only for a number of minutes, and the Public Works Department will provide barricades for all of the street closure areas during the Memorial Day Parade. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the aforementioned temporary street closure for the Memorial Day Parade on May 25, 2026, is hereby approved.
