HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Resolution approving request from Ames Patriotic Council for Memorial Day Parade on May 25, 2026RESOLUTION NO. 26-280 RESOLUTION APPROVING STREET CLOSURES FOR MEMORIAL DAY PARADE STAGING AND PARADE LINE-UP FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, each year, the Ames Patriotic Council conducts a community observance of Memorial Day, and this observance involves a parade from City Hall to the Municipal Cemetery, followed by a community memorial service at the Cemetery; and, WHEREAS, the Ames Patriotic Council requests the closure of Pearle Avenue and 5th Street from east of Pearle Avenue through the Clark Avenue intersection on May 25, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for the line-up and start of the parade entries; and, WHEREAS, the parade and memorial service at the Municipal Cemetery are an integral part of the community’s annual Memorial Day commemoration; and, WHEREAS, staff recommend that the request for the street closures for the Memorial Day Parade staging and parade line-up be approved. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the aforementioned street closures for the Memorial Day Parade staging and parade line-up on May 25, 2026, are hereby approved.
