The techniques in this program are typically more specialized or larger in scope than can be performed by City maintenance staff. The Slurry Seal Program leveled joints and provided a new thin wearing surface for traffic, predominantly on residential streets, limiting the typical disruption to residents to no more than one day. On April 8, 2025, City Council awarded this project to Fort Dodge Asphalt Company, of Fort Dodge Iowa, in the amount of $231,228.20. One Change Order was administratively approved by staff, a deduction in the amount of $12,048.78. Project work was completed in the amount of $219,179.42. There is $300,000 of Road Use Tax funding allocated to this program in the FY 2024/25 Capital Improvement Plan. Remaining funding will be used for other pavement restoration priorities.
