opportunity for funds. The request is to expand a bowl-throwing workshop for 2026.
Mary Kay noted that the event included Gilbert school district students. Jenny
noted the event would benefit both Ames and Gilbert student organizations.
Friends of Ames Strings: Kelly Glotfelty explained that there is a gap in
programming that this project is intended to address. The proposal includes hosting
a series of lessons in spring and in fall.
ACTORS: Myra Jackson outlined the proposal to produce “Come from Away,”
which will involve creation of new sets in addition to the cost for the rights for the
script, which were high.
KHOI FM: Lynne Carey indicated that the two proposals were in priority order. The
desire is to get a film series off the ground as a new ongoing project. The cost of
the film rights to screen them can vary, up to $700.
KHOI FM: A second proposal for “Map of My Kingdom” was described. This is a
Mary Swander play. The requests for COTA funding will contribute to the rights,
production, and refreshments for the post-performance discussion.
Ames Town and Gown: Bill Dilla noted that the last concert of the season is a
performance of Twelfth Night on baroque instruments. It is desired to host an
outreach event in a central location where the community can meet the players
outside of the performance. The expenses also include stipends for transportation
of the musicians and one musical instrument.
Octagon Center for the Arts: Heather Johnson described a documentary film
festival being planned in connection with the Octagon Art Festival. The

Economic Alliance and Iowa State University. It will be held in the Ames Public
