RESOLUTION APPROVING REQUERST TO SPONSOR
AMES: A GLIMPSE INSIDE EVENT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, during the Budget Wrap-Up Session, the City Council was appraised
of a request for $1,500 to support the Ames: A Glimpse which is scheduled for Saturday,
October 17, 2026; and,
WHEREAS, the goal of the event is to inform others about historic preservation,
Ames’ rich history, and the City’s many historic treasures. By creating an event
showcasing historic architectural resources, the organizers hope to raise awareness and
appreciation for these resources; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council voted to support the event in the current fiscal year
and is requested to do so again for the subsequent fiscal year by the recommendation of
the Historic Preservation Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,
Iowa, that the recommendation of the Historic Preservation Commission to support the
Ames: A Glimpse Inside event planned for Saturday, October 17, 2026, with an allocation
of $1,500 from the 2026/27 Council Contingency Fund is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 14th day of April, 2026.
