RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF
BID PACKAGE 40-1 – MILLWRIGHT/PROCESS INTEGRATION WORK
FOR THE RESOURCE RECOVERY AND RECYCLING CAMPUS
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and
necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such
project having been designated as the Resource Recovery and Recycling Campus Bid
Package 40-1 – Millwright/Process Integration Work; and, pursuant to notice and hearing,
bids were received on the 3rd day of March, 2026, as called for in the detailed plans and
specifications as prepared by the Public Works Department and filed with the City Clerk
on the 27th day of January, 2026; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore determined that the bid of RRT Design
& Construction, of Melville, NY, in the amount of $7,798,009 is the lowest and best bid
submitted for the construction of said project; and,
WHEREAS, the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has
been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by
said contractor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,
Iowa, as follows:
Section One. The Contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and RRT Design &
Construction, of Melville, NY, in the amount of $7,798,009 dated the 27th day of
March, 2026, for the Resource Recovery and Recycling Campus Bid Package 40-
1 – Millwright/Process Integration Work as provided for in the detailed plans and
specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the
said contractor with Berkley Insurance Company, of Greenwich, CT, as surety
thereon, in the amount of $7,798,009 filed in connection therewith, be and the
same are hereby approved.
Section Two. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
