RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING APRIL 14, 2026,
AS THE DATE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
THE FY 2025/26 ADJUSTED BUDGET AND FY 2026/27 BUDGET
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, during the 2019 Legislative Session, changes were made to the Iowa
Code that altered the process for adoption of annual budgets for cities; and,
WHEREAS, per Iowa Code Section 384.15A, cities must now hold a public hearing
and adopt a Maximum Property Tax Levy in any year that the City expects to adopt a
budget that includes a levy of property taxes (excluding debt service) exceeding 102
percent of the prior budget; and,
WHEREAS, the final public hearing date for adoption of the Adjusted Budget for
FY 2025/26 and Budget for FY 2026/27 may now be set by the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,
Iowa, that the date of public hearing for April 14, 2026, for adoption of the FY 2025/26
Adjusted Budget and FY 2026/27 Budget is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 24th day of March, 2026.
