RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF
2025/26 SEAL COAT STREET PAVEMENT IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM
AND WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM
(FERNDALE AVENUE AND FURMAN DRIVE)
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and
necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such
project having been designated as the 2025/26 Seal Coat Street Pavement
Improvements Program and Water System Improvements Program (Ferndale Avenue
and Furman Drive); and, pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received on the 4th
day of April, 2026, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by
the Public Works Department and filed with the City Clerk on the 10th day of February,
2026; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Iowa Water
& Waste Systems of Boone, IA, in the amount of $1,977,694.58 is the lowest and best
bid submitted for the construction of said project; and,
WHEREAS, the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has
been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by
said contractor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,
Iowa, as follows:
Section One. The Contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Iowa Water &
Waste Systems of Boone, IA, in the amount of $1,977,694.58 dated the 10th day
of March, 2026, for the 2025/26 Seal Coat Street Pavement Improvements
Program and Water System Improvements Program (Ferndale Avenue and
Furman Drive) as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to
in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with
Merchants Bonding Company (Mutual), of West Des Moines, IA, as surety thereon,
in the amount of $1,977,694.58 filed in connection therewith, be and the same are
hereby approved.
Section Two. All resolutions or orders or parts thereof in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
ADOPTED THIS 24th day of March, 2026.
