HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Resolution approving contract & bond for construction of 2025/26 Downtown Street Pavement Improvement Program (alley N of Lincoln Way between Kellogg Ave & Sherman Ave)RESOLUTION NO. 26-158 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 2025/26 DOWNTOWN STREET PAVEMENT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (ALLEY - NORTH OF LINCOLN WAY BETWEEN KELLOGG AVE AND SHERMAN AVE) FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the 2025/26 Downtown Street Pavement Improvement Program (Alley - North of Lincoln Way Between Kellogg Ave and Sherman Ave); and, pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received on the 4th day of March, 2026, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the Public Works Department and filed with the City Clerk on the 10th day of February, 2026; and, WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Brother's Concrete, of Des Moines, IA, in the amount of $127,917.05 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS, the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section One. The Contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Brother's Concrete, of Des Moines, IA, in the amount of $127,917.05 dated the 10th day of March, 2026, for the 2025/26 Downtown Street Pavement Improvement Program (Alley - North of Lincoln Way Between Kellogg Ave and Sherman Ave) as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with Old Republic Surety Company, of West Des Moines, IA, as surety thereon, in the amount of $127,917.05 filed in connection therewith, be and the same are hereby approved. Section Two. All resolutions or orders or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
