RESOLUTION APPROVING IOWA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
TITLE VI STANDARD ASSURANCES AND AGREEMENT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination in
providing government services; and,
WHEREAS, every five years, the City is subject to a compliance review conducted
by the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) to ensure the City meets all the
requirements of Title VI; and,
WHEREAS, City staff has completed a Title VI Compliance Site Review Tool and
reviewed it in a discussion with a representative of the Iowa DOT Civil Rights Team; and,
WHEREAS, the City must sign Standard DOT Assurances and the Agreement
which obligates the City to ensure that its contractors will comply with the Title VI; and,
WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation requires these Assurances to
be approved every five years or whenever there is a change in the Office of the Mayor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,
Iowa, that the Standard Iowa Department of Transportation Title VI Assurances and
Agreement is hereby approved.
