HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - February 3, 2026, Public Art Commission Meeting Minutes1 MINUTES PUBLIC ART COMMISSION Conference Room 135 515 Clark Avenue February 3, 2026 Call to Order Chair Candace Zwank called the meeting of the Public Art Commission to order at 5:35 p.m. In attendance were Theresa Stromberg-Murphy (Vice Chair), Julieanne Rogowski (Secretary), Greg Rowland (Treasurer), Kyle Hauswirth, Donna Hoff-Grambau, Karen Kedrowski, Janice Reutter, Manu Agnihotri, Ratnesh Kumar, and Ray Schmidt. Joseph Merchant, Tom Lindsley, and Brian Phillips (City of Ames Staff Liaison) were absent. Approval of Consent Agenda Moved by Hauswirth, seconded by Rowland, to approve the Consent Agenda. Vote on Motion: 11-0. Motion carried unanimously. Outreach Committee Update • All but one artist has submitted their contracts back for 2026 -2027 AAOSE pieces • Public art easement for the piece chosen for neighborhood art has been sent to the city for approval • Bylaws, and the policies for acquisition, deaccession, and donation are now listed on PAC’s webpage Public Relations Committee Update • Updated “Oxbow” piece suggested as a good piece for PR to spotlight • Zwank was noted to be working on an article about an artist Collection Management Committee Update • Some pieces were noted to be having warranty work being done on them 2 • Several pieces were discussed that will have their warranties expire this year. Rowland planned to send out a message to the subcommittee to see if the pieces need any work before then • Rowland had sent James with the City’s GIS Team several new pictures for the GIS website Public Forum None. Chair ’s Report/Comments • The bylaws would need to be updated, so commissioners were requested to review them before a vote at the next meeting • March would be Zwank’s last month serving on the commission City of Ames Liaison Report/Comments None. Old Business • Possible Richard Deyo Memorial Sculpture Update o Concerns were brought up about the Commission initiating art pieces for community members. The Commission members agreed that a memorial piece would not be in the Commission’s purview. New Business None. For the Good of the Order • The annual Art Walk was scheduled for June 11. Hauswirth sent the application for a booth to Zwank. • The Commission members discussed having a booth one weekend at the Farmers’ Market as well as Welcome Week at ISU in the fall. 3 • Stromberg-Murphy requested themes for next year’s calendar. Rowland suggested close-ups of pieces in the City’s collection. • Rogowski would likely be gone next month, so another Commission member would need to take minutes. Adjournment Moved by Hauswirth, seconded by Reutter, to adjourn the meeting at 5:55 p.m. Vote on Motion: 11-0. Motion carried unanimously.
