Unanimous a. Present: Stromberg-Murphy, Rowland, Phillips, Hauswirth, Agnihotri, Reutter, Merchant, HoJ-Grambau, Kedrowski, Lindsley, Schmidt iii. Commission Committee’s Reports a. Outreach i. Committee goals update 1. Sub- committee reviewed the Neighborhood Art applications. Due to the available budget, only one piece will be purchased and installed. 2. There were four applications. There was a discussion about contacting the three applicants who were not chosen to provide an update and encourage them to apply again next year. b. Public Relations i. Committee goals update 1. Social media has been very successful. All available pictures of the collection have been shared. 2. Subcommittee to meet to discuss new ideas, such as an art walk or similar. 3. It was suggested that the AAOSE winner be shared. c. Collection i. Committee goals update 1. No new info on the three remaining missing pieces 2. Request to the commission to review the GIS link and provide additional feedback 3. Discussion regarding making the link ‘public’. No objections, so PR to push out that link. iv. Public Forum a. No public attendees v. Chair’s Report/Comments a. Chair not present (illness). No report vi. City of Ames Liaison Report a. Moving forward with the contract negotiations with the artist for the AMES project. Should wrap up quickly. b. The city has received payments from the donor for “Big Hello”. vii. Old business a. Possible Richard Beyo Memorial (Joe Merchant) i. Joe to reach out to the family b. New Shirt Design (Kyle Hauswirth)– i. Commission reviewed designs shared in the Dec meeting, discussed purchasing options, design, and colors. ii. Motion made to purchase 24 “I Heart Public Art” design shirts from RayGun. Bright green with white letters. Motion made by Kedrowksi/Reutter. Unanimous c. Sculptures available for addition to City Collection (HoJ-Grambau and Hauswirth) report – i. Nothing much left. Smaller pieces, a few abstract pieces. None of the remaining pieces seemed a good fit for the collection. viii. New Business a. Vote to approve subcommittee recommendations for the purchase and placement of Neighborhood Art Pieces. i. Agnihotri shared the subcommittee’s decision to proceed with the purchase and placement of one piece, “TipSee” for the neighbor art program – to be placed in the North Neighborhood (Carroll Ave and E. 9th St) ii. Motion made to empower the Outreach committee to contact the artist and negotiate the purchase of “Tipsy”. Motion made by Hauswirth/Merchant. Unanimous ix. For the Good of the Order a. Nothing discussed Motion to adjourn at 5:57 pm by Hauswirth/Kedrowski. Unanimous. Submitted by Greg Rowland, Treasurer - Robowki absent (funeral)
