RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF
2022/23 BRIDGE REHABILITATION PROGRAM
(S. 4TH PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE OVER IOWAY CREEK)
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and
necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such
project having been designated as the 2022/23 Bridge Rehabilitation Program (S. 4th
Pedestrian Bridge over Ioway Creek); and, pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were
received on the 18th day of February, 2026, as called for in the detailed plans and
specifications as prepared by the Public Works Department and filed with the City Clerk
on the 23rd day of January, 2026; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Boulder
Contracting, LLC, of Grundy Center, IA, in the amount of $1,577,234.95 is the lowest and
best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and,
WHEREAS, the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has
been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by
said contractor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,
Iowa, as follows:
Section One. The Contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Boulder
Contracting, LLC of Grundy Center, IA, in the amount of $1,577,234.95 dated the
24th day of February, 2026, for the 2022/23 Bridge Rehabilitation Program (S. 4th
Pedestrian Bridge over Ioway Creek) as provided for in the detailed plans and
specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the
said contractor with Westfield Insurance Company, of West Des Moines, IA, as
surety thereon, in the amount of $1,577,234.95 filed in connection therewith, be
and the same are hereby approved.
Section Two. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
ADOPTED THIS 10th day of March, 2026.
